Object sync problems
Basics of syncing: Synchronization. This article covers “the object is on the computer (web) but missing on iPhone/Android” (or the other way around).
In short
Something in the web list is not automatically on every phone. After creating or saving, the device must sync online (pull to refresh on Start). Some issues appear without a clear error message.
Test whether sync works in general
Use this to check that sync between web and a device is working:
- On the computer (web), sign in to the Protocol App and select the same workspace as on the device.
- Create a new test object (while online) and save it.
- On iPhone or Android, open the Protocol App (online, same workspace).
- On the Start screen, pull to refresh (pull-to-sync) — or use the sync button in the header.
- Check that the test object appears in the object list and can be opened.
If the test object appears: sync works in general — a single missing object is more likely a special case (see below).
If it does not: check workspace, sign-in, and internet first, save the test object again on web, then sync again on the device.
What you may see
| Situation | Typical message / feeling | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Creating an object on web without a stable connection | Red toast: No internet connection – the object cannot be created… | Get online and create again (web does not create objects “local only”). |
| Created on web, missing on the phone | No clear error; sync “looks fine” | On web open the object and save again; phone online, same workspace, Start screen pull to refresh. |
| Object only after import / integration | Visible in lists or via the integration, not on the device app | Open once in Protocol App and save so device sync can pick it up. |
| Saved on two devices at the same time | Data looks stale or stuck; rarely a clear sync toast | Use one device: open, sync, save; avoid parallel edits. |
| Wrong workspace | Sync runs, object still missing | Check the workspace switcher (Team users) — web and phone must use the same workspace. |
| Session expired / device offline only | Offline hints on login or Start | Sign in again while online, then sync. |
Common causes
-
No internet when creating on web
Creating on web needs a stable connection. Without internet you get an error — connect and create again. -
Device not refreshed yet
After saving on web, open the app on the phone and pull to refresh on Start. -
Wrong workspace
Web and phone must use the same workspace (Team users). -
Object from import or integration
Open and save it once in the Protocol App, then sync on the device. -
Edited on several devices at the same time
Prefer saving on one device, then sync. -
Not signed in or device offline
Sign in while online and start sync again. -
Object deleted or archived
After sync it may no longer appear in the normal list on the other device.
When a specific object is missing
- Run the general test above first (new object on web → device).
- On web: open the missing object → save.
- On the phone: Start screen pull to refresh.
- Check Settings → Tools → Sync history for a recent update for that object.
- If it is still missing: contact deep.rent support and include the details below.
What deep.rent support needs
To analyse the issue further, please send as much of the following as you can:
- Workspace name (and organisation if relevant)
- Object name / label as shown in the list
- Approximate date and time of creation or last change
- Where the object is visible and where it is not (web, iPhone, Android)
- How it was created: manually in the app/web or via import / integration
- Whether the sync test with a new test object worked (yes/no)
- App version on the device (Settings / About) and roughly which device (e.g. iPhone, Android tablet)
- Any error message (exact text or a screenshot)
- Optional: a Sync history entry if something related to that object appears there
Without workspace and object name we often cannot look up the case.
