Signature options

Display

For completed, signed protocols, the protocol viewer shows signature fields with each participant’s signature image and timestamp. If a signature is still missing, that slot appears empty or clearly pending.

Signing in the viewer (QR preview)

The protocol viewer can be used to place a signature — but only when the organisation has enabled QR preview sharing and the participant opens the protocol via the QR code (or the link encoded in it).

Requirement: module in Settings

Under Settings → Modules, “Protocol QR Preview share” must be on. When the module is off, no QR preview is available for sharing and participants cannot sign through the viewer.

Module details: Protocol QR Preview share.

Flow for the creator (in the app)

  1. “Protocol QR Preview share” is enabled (see above).
  2. During protocol creation, a preview of the protocol is made available.
  3. In the app, a QR code appears (green QR icon in the toolbar) that you can show to the participant — on device, printed, or copied as a link.

In-app hint (paraphrased): Protocol is available as a preview for participants. Scan the QR code to open the protocol.

Flow for participants (protocol viewer)

  1. Scan the QR code (or open the link from email/sharing) — the protocol loads in the browser as a preview.
  2. Read the protocol carefully (photos, text, defects, checklists).
  3. Go to the Signatures section (scroll or use navigation).
  4. On first open, an alert may indicate that a signature process was detected — please review the content and confirm.
  5. Tap “Sign here” (or the localised label) next to your name.
  6. Draw your signature in the pad and save.
  7. After a successful save, the signature is shown immediately (image + timestamp). You can close the browser tab.

Important: The sign button appears only in preview mode (QR/link) while the participant has not yet signed. For finished protocols, signatures are view-only — signing through the viewer is no longer intended.

Note

Without sufficient permission, with the module disabled, or with an expired link, signing may be unavailable or limited. Reopen the link or QR code if saving fails.
